Frequently Asked Questions

Is a DSO model suitable for all types of dental practices?

While many practices can benefit from DSO affiliation, the suitability depends on the individual practice's goals, values, and desired level of support. A DSO like Dental Success Partners offers customizable partnership models to cater to diverse needs.

How does a DSO affiliation impact my staff?

DSO affiliation often provides staff with expanded resources, training, and career development opportunities. Operational efficiencies also allow for better work-life balance and job satisfaction.

What qualifications do I need to join Dental Success Partners?

The practice qualification criteria for doctors interested in joining Dental Success Partners span multiple areas such as operations capacity, patient demographics, culture, and financial health. We are looking for practices that have a minimum EBITDA of $500,000, at least six ops, capacity for at least two providers, less than 10% Medicaid, and a brown belt level operation in which overhead does not exceed 60% of total revenue.

While we have established criteria to identify practices that could greatly benefit from partnering with Dental Success Partners, the true compatibility of a practice with our DSO model can only be determined through a personalized conversation. Location, patient demographics, and specific practice goals are crucial in evaluating a potential partnership.

We welcome interested practice owners to engage in a dialogue with us to understand where they stand and how Dental Success Partners can align with their aspirations. Through these discussions, we can mutually explore the possibilities and chart a course for a successful partnership. Please contact us; we're eager to learn about your practice and discuss how we can achieve collective success.

How will integrating practices into the Dental Success Partners structure affect day-to-day operations in the short term?

In the short term, practices may experience minimal disruptions as systems and processes are standardized. However, our transition team will work closely with each practice to minimize operational impact and ensure a smooth integration process.

What measures are being taken to ensure that the unique culture of each practice is preserved post-integration?

We recognize the value of individual practices and the importance of maintaining a positive culture. Our integration strategy includes utilizing DSI frameworks like cultural assessments, weekly meetings, and leadership training to preserve the unique aspects of each practice's ethos. Day-to-day operations and leadership opportunities in the practice will remain the responsibility of the owner doctor.

What is the governance structure post-acquisition, and the extent of autonomy that will be retained at the practice level?

Post-acquisition, governance will be a collaborative effort between Dental Success Partners leadership and practice heads. While significant strategic decisions will be centralized, practices will retain autonomy in day-to-day clinical and operations decisions, ensuring that patient care remains personalized and high-quality.

How will the valuation of individual practices be determined within the Dental Success Partners framework?

Valuations will be based on a fair and transparent assessment of each practice's EBITDA. Maintaining practice performance during negotiations is important so your practice's EBITDA is not impacted negatively. That includes making strategic decisions in your personal and professional life, such as keeping a consistent work schedule, maintaining production, and not making large practice equipment purchases.

Can you outline the support system that will be in place for practices to adapt to the new operational software and services?

A comprehensive support system will be provided to each practice during the transition stage, including training sessions with the Dental Success Partners admin team in person, over Zoom, and via phone support. Additionally, our industry partners will be brought in to ensure that all practices are confident and competent in using the new systems and services.

How will Dental Success Partners ensure compliance with industry standards and maintain quality control across practices?

Dental Success Partners will implement a unified quality control system through collaboration and consistency with HR, as well as the oversight of our Chief Clinical Offer and unified practice software that aligns with industry standards. Regular audits, peer reviews, and continuous training will be part of our commitment to excellence and compliance across all practices.
